Title Optimal Data Spreading in Sensor Networks Using Network Coding
Authors Balochian, Saeed; Baloochian, Hossein
Abstract Network coding allows sensor nodes to manipulate received packets by combing them with other packets in order to improve bandwidth consumption and/or increase reliability in the presence of packet loss. In this paper, we analyze packet spread in a wireless sensor network using network coding. Based on this analysis, we propose a novel data collection protocol called optimal data spreading in sensor networks using network coding (OSSC). OSSC tries to efficiently spread packets in the network by improving another scheme called SenseCode. OSSC utilizes some simple mechanisms to achieve this goal. Our simulation experiments show that OSSC improves reliability with acceptable energy consumption.
