Authors Ghabousian, Armin; Shamsi, Mousa
Abstract In this paper, we investigate and study one of prominent image processing applications that are the classification of fruits based on their quality by utilizing color images. In order to segmentation of color images of apple, a process of pre-process is done by the active contour algorithm which caused to increase in segmentation algorithm accuracy. Fuzzy clustering algorithm is an unsupervised algorithm that used to segmentation of color images of apples. It is should be noted that variations in brightness i(x,y) leads to create heterogeneity in the color images. It is shown that it would be possible remove most of this brightness heterogeneity. Accordingly, in new produced pictures the boundaries have been appeared in high quality and on the contrary, shadow and brightness defections in most of image regions has been eliminated. We have shown that proposed algorithm can be preferred in comparison to other standard algorithms, because of its better efficiency rather than standard fuzzy clustering algorithms.
