Abstract The present study made attempts to investigate the effects of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) Approach on EFL learners’ essay writing: the evaluation of computer grammar and spelling checker software. To this aim, a simulated proficiency test was run to 140 available EFL students whose ages ranged from 19 to 29 and fifty students were selected as pre-intermediate language learners, and then randomly divided up into two groups of 25. After applying the statistical procedure, it was revealed that CALL word processing software did enhance EFL learners writing accuracy. Thus, the claim that CALL word processing software enhances EFL learners writing accuracy was confirmed. The other two hypotheses of the study were both rejected. The findings of the study comply with many studies concerning CALL (e. g., [1], [8], [10]), [19], [20], [21]).
