Abstract Antenna design is a blistering area of research in the current scenario of wireless communication. It is an important field linking the real life signals to the communication system. Antenna design is the function of operational frequency, type of application and the directivity .Antenna measurements dictate the beam of the antenna which in turn gives the antenna performance. In this paperdesign and analysis of VHF GroundPlane antenna is presented which has a simple configuration to be implemented at a low cost. For the coverage of local area, the ease of construction and low cost of  ground-plane antenna makes it an ideal choice. The antenna iscomposed of a two flat pieces of metal sheet connected on the upper and lower sides of main element, to which six radials made of copper are connected with machine screws. The three lower radials are 120o apart in the horizontal plane with 45° bend is made in each of the three radials and same is the case with three upper radials. The proposed antenna is designed for frequency of 108MHz with constant gain and vertical polarization. The designed antenna is simulatedin software package NEC Win-Pro at the operating frequency. Simulation results for VSWR and far-fieldradiation patterns of the antenna are presented and discussed.
