| Abstract | The research of the peculiarities of psycho-social functioning and needs of families having children with disabilities has lately gained great significance pursuing to ensure successful social integration of the families, and to develop an effective system of assistance for them, which would help to support the families as well as activate their internal and external relations. On the basis of the qualitative research, the paper analyzes the psycho-social situation of families having children with disabilities, and focuses on the following aspects: the impact of a child’s disability on the family (the psycho-social condition of parents; interrelations in the family; relationship with the surrounding environment; parents’ participation in the working and social activity, interpersonal partnership between specialists and families) and family needs which are important to ensure the functioning of such families and improvement of services. |
