Abstract | In the study, a real time pedestrian tracking algortithm is presented using thermal infrared imagery. It makes use of the characteristics of pedestrian body regions in infrared images, which is based on a particle filter framework. The method constructs the regions of interests (ROI) histogram representation in an intensity-distance projection space model, so as to hurdle the disadvantage of insufficient information when only intensity feature is considered. In addition, the tracking algorithm which embeds the above mentioned representation model in the particle filter framework and update the samples representation model automatically. The experimental results are gained by using different infrared image sequences, which show that the proposed scheme achieves more robust and stable than the classical tracking method. |
